During the time of isolation, many of us turned to online apps to meet new people. This helped many to still feel connected to the outside world, despite being isolated in our homes.
This virtual connection to the outside world through video calls or voice calls was something many looked forward to.
Before the pandemic, we were all too used to being busy with school and work that we overlook simple things like family time. Mundane day-to-day family meals were sometimes taken for granted.
This lockdown bought us together but allowed us to realise the importance of family time.
As we were not able to leave the house, we turned to online purchases instead. Not only did we turn to online shopping, but online food delivery as well. We now can enjoy our favourite food in the comforts of our home.
The wait for the purchases to arrive has then become one of the few things we look forward to.
As we were all separated physically by the lockdown, many looked toward online platforms to meet up and keep in touch with friends. We also did Mukbang, where we all have a meal together over a video call.
Not only were we spending more time with our families, but we also got to spend more time with our pets. We now have more time to bond and play with them, aside from our pre-pandemic hectic schedules.
Dalgona coffee! Need I say more?
We were all homed with a handful of free time so many of us started exploring the untouched areas of the house and turned to the kitchen to start baking or cooking.
Picking up a new hobby was one of the things keeping us going and something we looked forward to.
Being stuck to the laptop when working will inevitably cause us to start feeling drained, small trips to the fridge seemed like little escapes we have from our work.
The light from the fridge now seems to be the little ray of break time for us to look forward to.
Now with the handful of time we have to spare after work, we can binge-watch entire series of shows to our heart's content.
After work-hours Netflix sessions were another thing that kept us going, and what we all looked forward to.
Pre-pandemic we were all tied up with work which resulted in us not having time to exercise after work. Now with the handful of time we have to spare after work, many of us were able to find time to exercise.
The time for an exercise session after work was what some of us looked forward to.
Work starts at 9am, alarm set at 8:59am.
What's not to like?
We all have to agree that one of the best takeaways from the lockdown, was being able to wake up and go to work, removing the need to prepare for work or to travel.
This resulted in more time for us to rest before work and more time for ourselves when work ends.
These were the 10 things that kept me going through the 10 months of lockdown.
Small but significant, my little rays of light carrying me through the tough and depressing time of isolation. They were the moments that gave life to time that stayed stagnant, the pulses on a flatline.
